But for me, nope, it's hella hard. But finally, it's the first of the month (in a figurative manner), and Welfare Radio is jam-packed with a bunch of new bangers from some of your (and my) favorite artists (sans a couple classic head-nod ditties). All I have to say is that if the C's don't win on the damn road, I'm going to lose my mind. You can blame my tardiness with this month's show on the Celts, but I'm waiting on my first ring in over two decades…whatever KG (kidding, but let's quote Deck on how the C's feel: “It's been twenty-two long hard years of still strugglin'”). Enjoy the show…I think you'll like the Biggie/Dilla collabo if you haven't heard that joint yet." - DJ Food Stamp

Craig G & Marley Marl - 'Operation Take Hip Hop Back' (CD)
--------------------------------------------------
Legendary Juice Crew members Craig G & Marley Marl team up once again to release Operation Take Back Hip-Hip. On the heels of Marley Marl's successful album Hip-Hop Lives from 2007 with KRS-One and the announcement of a major motion picture entitled The Vapors based on the Juice Crew's story, a full fledged renaissance is under way. The albums instantly catchy single 'Made The Change' (also available from Traffic on June 17th) has already been lighting radio waves on fire, while 'The Day The Music Died' shows why Craig G is still one of the most respected lyricists in the game and why he was chosen to write key portions of Eminem's '8 Mile' and 50 Cent's 'Get Rich Or Die Trying' movies. Operation Take Back Hip-Hip features a top notch lineup of guest emcees that includes KRS-One, Cormega, Rakaa of Dilated Peoples and Sadat X. Craig G and Marley Marl first worked together way back in 1985 with the release of the two classic 12' singles 'Shout' and 'Transformer'. In 1988, their undeniable chemistry was cemented with their legendary effort entitled 'Droppin' Science', from the Marley Marl In Control album. This led to them working together on Craig G's major label solo albums at the turn of the decade. Today, the two effortlessly prove the magic is still there.

Various Artists (Brick Records) - 'Building With Bricks Vol. 3' (CD Compilation Double)
--------------------------------------------------
This is the third volume in this highly regarded CD compilation series that showcases remixes, exclusives and non-album cuts that had previously only been available on 12' vinyl. The first disc finds long time staple DJ and producer Beyonder of The Bladerunners (Google that name to see what all the fuss is about!!!) mixing and editing his way masterfully in and out of all 21 tracks. The mix is fun, fluid and imaginative yet Beyonder still allows the entire track to ride so the listener feels engaged and never cheated. The track listing reads as a who's who of independent Hip Hop as you get verses and production from the likes of Statik Selektah, Termanology, 7L & Esoteric, DJ Premier, Reks, Main Flow, Raheem Jamal, Styles P, Q-Tip, Ras Kass, Papoose, Cormega, Raydar Ellis, D-Tension, Vinnie Paz (Jedi Mind Tricks), Insight, Channel Live, Kaze, Evidence, King Syze and many more!!! Disc Two boasts 15 bonus full-length songs that are all exclusives from Brick artists (or extended family) recorded for this set or lect cuts that offer a preview to their full-length album that will be available from Brick in 2008. Such albums include Short Bus Alumni 'Mr. T's Revenge', Reks 'Grey Hairs', Statik Selektah 'As Yet Untitled', Top Choice Clique 'Reel Chemistry - The Anthology', East Coast Avengers (Esoteric, Trademarc & DC The Midi Alien) and Project Move 'The Learning Tree'. A strong 2008 lineup indeed. A must have for fans of Brick Records or any of the artists featured or just well done indie Hip Hop in general...thirty seven full length tracks on two discs for one super low price!!!

Little Brother - 'And Justus For All' (CD)
--------------------------------------------------
The Hall of Justus Music Group is proud to present Phonte and Big Pooh's return as Little Brother with the official release of ...And Justus for All. The North Carolina duo and founding members of The Justus League have made a major impact on Hip Hop by successfully combining the classic 90s feel of such groups as A Tribe Called Quest and De La Soul with production and subject matter that remains current with the times. They were introduced to the world in 2003 via their cult classic album 'The Listening' which landed them on a national tour with Hieroglyphics. A deal with Atlantic Records ensued which was followed by their sophomore album the Minstrel Show. Phonte and Big Pooh continue in 2008 where Getback left off in 2007. ...And Justus for All features guest appearances from rap legends Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Skillz and Cormega while giving shine to Rap's up-and-comers Rhymefest (Mark Ronson) and Oh No (Stones Throw), as well as shedding light on there Hall of Justus crew rhymers. With fourteen tracks guaranteed not to disappoint, ...And Justus for All gives fans what they want: fresh lyrics, relevant content, strong production, and a roster of supporting rappers guaranteed to satisfy even the most fickle. Qwel (of Typical Cats) & Kip Killagain - 'The New Wine (w/ FREE Album INSTRUMENTALS!)' (CD)
--------------------------------------------------
Qwel returns to the forefront with 'The New Wine', the 3rd in the series that started with autumn's 'The Harvest' produced by Maker & winter's 'Freezerburner' produced by Meaty Ogre. This time Qwel has tapped the talents of Kip Killagain, who has fostered renown in the underground music scene as an artist and more importantly a jungle/hip-hop producer. The genesis of this collaborative effort was sparked by the idea that the avant-garde use of live musicianship in hip-hop production could be done, and is needed to fill that void in the underground hip-hop community. The New Wine is an expose of contrasts. The third horseman in Revelation is called forth - the black horse. His rider wields a balance proclaiming loudly 'A week's wage for a loaf of bread, a week's wage for a serving of grains, but don't harm the wine or oil'. Half the world slaves away to starve while the other wages war for its thirst for oil and wine. Man's wine has gone spoiled. But just as the gloom of spring rain clears to a better day, so is the promise of the new wine. Qwel's unique and cynical outlook into our modern Babylon provides for an amazing range of sounds and topics, while contrarily giving way to hope in this plastic culture of Americanized Christianity and pop singers. The sound of the new wine is unlike any of Qwel's previous records. Beautiful soundscapes of live violin often give way to thunderous baselines and soothing harmonies, further proclaiming 'Spring time is upon us. Drink the New Wine.'

Rock (of Heltah Skeltah) - 'Shell Shock' (CD)
--------------------------------------------------
Rock, one half of the legendary rap duo, Heltah Skeltah, returns with Shell Shock. The Rockness Monsta has been at the forefront of attention lately as he is battling an attempted murder charge to which he has pled not-guilty. After being released from jail in the Winter of 2007, Rock has since appeared on MTV's Mixtape Monday's and has been published in The Source's Back-To-The-Lab Heltah Skeltah interview (April, 08 Issue) and in XXL Magazine (April, 08 Issue). His single 'Attempted Murda' is climbing charts across the nation. Rock established himself as a prominent artist as one half of Heltah Skeltah (Nocturnal and Magnum Force albums) and is also part of the mighty Boot Camp Clik which just released their latest album 'Casualties of War' in 2007 and has already shipped over 20,000 units nationwide. Raashan Ahmad (of Crown City Rockers) - 'The Push (w/ FREE 'Unreleased EP' CD!)' (CD)
--------------------------------------------------
This album was born out of me. I have been in a live band for the last 8 years and have learned so much about different rhythms, genres, methods, and musicality, which has been a beautiful thing. But this album is a return to basics, that good ol’ boom bap, the beats and rhymes. I needed to get in touch with the other side of me, the side of me who loved Run DMC, BDP and the 808 machine. It was where I started as an M.C. and I needed to touch that again. As an M.C. in Crown City Rockers I try to be as varied as the music that we create. My writing is for myself as well as an audience as diverse as our crew. It is a challenge that I love; one that pushes me out of my comfort zone and inspires me to improve my talent. Without the skills I acquired from being in a group with such talented musicians I never could have made a solo album that is, in a word, selfish. This is a non-collaborative effort born out of my own fears, insecurities, observations, triumphs and tragedies. It is therapy over beats. – Raashan Ahmad.

Killah Priest - 'Behind The Stained Glass' (CD)
--------------------------------------------------
Longtime Wu-Tang Clan affiliate and Brooklyn native, Killah Priest returns with Behind The Stained Glass, the highly anticipated follow up to the 2007 acclaimed The Offering. Introduced to the world through a deeply spiritual, lyrically sharp verse on 'B.I.B.L.E.' from GZA's Liquid Swords, Killah Priest's first album, Heavy Mental released in 1998, was filled with intensely spiritual lyrics loaded with metaphors and religious references. Ten years later, this former Sunz of Man group member is back with Behind The Stained Glass proving his passion for quality rhymes and quality music. The album contains sixteen tracks of Priest showcasing why he is considered as one of the top lyricists in the game. He opens with the thunderous track 'I Believe' and on 'Hood Nursery' he puts a clever, gritty spin on a classic nursery rhyme. The album features appearances from 60 Second Assassin, Allah Sun, Jeni Fujita and Victorious. Behind The Stained Glass is what fans continue to beg for and Priest describes it himself as 'me tapping into the inner priesthood side I think people need more of.'

Jackson Conti (Madlib + Mamão of Azymuth) - 'Sujinho' (CD Disco/ Funk/ Jazz/ Soul)
--------------------------------------------------
Madlib loves Brasilian music, although in 2002 this wasn't that obvious to many. At that time he was beginning the experiments that led to the Yesterday New Quintet records from 2003 to today. Bryan Cross, a member of the Keepintime-crew, asked Madlib if he wanted to go to Brasil for a project which eventually resulted in Brasilintime. A couple weeks after the invitation Madlib handed Bryan Cross (B+) a cd-r containing Madlib versions / covers of his favourite Azymuth songs. One of the goals regarding the trip to Brasil was to get in contact with Ivan 'Mamão' Conti, the fantastic drummer of Azymuth, in which they certainly succeeded. Mamão reacted with genuine excitement on the Madlib covers, singing and playing percussion along with it, even calling in his wife to hear. A Madlib, Mamão collaboration would only take time and organization. Madlib then played a new CD of tracks that he had been working on with this project in mind and there was one that stuck with Mamão. Segura esta Onda is that track and it is really a tribute to Azymuth. Mamão ended up singing on it. It was a mystical night and within two months Madlib had turned those rhythm tracks into the album which is now out on Kindred Spirits. Filled with songs from the greats of Brasilian music of the mid sixties to early seventies. Luiz Eca, Chico Buarque, Joao Donato, Baden and Vinicius, Marcos Valle, Dom Um Romao, Airto even George Duke gets a look in and of course Azymuth. Madlib is an artist that gives one new ears every couple of years if you choose to pay close enough attention. As for Jackson Conti, Madlib & Azymuth will blow your heads wide open!

Big Twins - 'The Grimey Collection' (CD)
--------------------------------------------------
As a precursor to the Big Twins album later this year, Dirt Class Records compiles The Grimey Collection. Containing hard-to-find buzz songs, mixtape bangers and exclusive debuts, The Grimey Collection wets the audience's appetite for that true-to-the-streets QB brand Hip Hop. This Spring, Big Twins appears on Prodigy's album HNIC2, a surefire release set to garner the attention of fans and critics alike. Twins' appearance on this highly anticipated record brings the seasoned vet into the public light like never before as a viable solo artist, and sets the tone for The Grimey Collection and his coming solo LP. On this project, you find collaborations with West Coast heavyweights Alchemist and Evidence (of Dilated Peoples), along with QB cohorts, Ty Nitty, Big Noyd and Godfather. Mobb Deep's own Prodigy spatters this release with his signature swag by both introducing the project and contributing two songs and Havoc laces Twin with a gruesome beat on 'Sold My Soul'. A project that puts current albums to shame, The Grimey Collection is just the beginning… Keep your ear to the streets.

Time Machine (Jaysonic, Comel + DJ Mekalek) - 'Life Is Expensive' (CD)
--------------------------------------------------
Time Machine is making a name for themselves these days…one party at a time. The trio of emcees Biscuit and Jet Set Jay, and DJ / Producer Mekalek is playing all the hot weeklies from Dim Mak Tuesdays and PYT in LA, to Roxy Cottontail’s Heartbeat in NY, and winning over fans with their seamless set of high-energy party rapping and tongue-in-cheek synchronized dance routines. However, the east-coast bred, LA-based squad knows that every night has its last call, and that much of life is what happens before doors open the next evening. And so, on their new album, LIFE IS EXPENSIVE, the crew balances the rolling good times with a shrewd awareness of the cost of living… both literal and figurative. From the a-day-in-the-LA-life observations of “In The City of Everything”, to the humorous storytelling of “The Unfortunate Twist”, and the jaded generational angst of the album’s title track, back to the psychedelic utopianism of “Something We’re Becoming”, Time Machine shows that having range is all in a day’s work. The song-writing overflows with DIY attitude, and Mekalek’s mostly hi-speed production boasts heavy drums and rich melodies every time. Auxiliary producer Stoerok makes the album’s soundscape even more dynamic with hiscontributions of “Mountains” and “Who Cares?”. Time Machine’s recent MIA and Kid Sister/Janet Jackson remixes have been doing it big on the blogs and on the dancefloors. Now celebrated club producers like Scottie B and Dave Nada are taking stabs at reworking TM’s own music. All of that momentum promises to keep steamrolling with the release of this new album, and the many parties to come. LIFE IS EXPENSIVE, but it can also be a whole lot of fun.

Giant Panda - 'Electric Laser' (CD)
--------------------------------------------------
Giant Panda has returned! Giant Panda's debut album, Fly School Reunion, dropped in 2005 and was received by unsuspecting ears that caught the raw sounds bursting forth. With their sophomore effort however, Giant Panda has evidently 'graduated'. Electric Laser is the name of the game, and GP plays it well. The production, foremost, is in many ways its predecessor, and yet it isn't . The drums still bang, with snares and kicks dominating the forefront of a large portion of the production. However, the melodies, chops, and loops aren't 'traditionally' jazzy or funky (that's not to say they don't have that type of quality, so to speak). Rather, thick, electro-fused samples are laced deep in the cuts of this record providing a much more futuristic but very present musical landscape. A track such as 'Justin Case' is a nice introduction to newcomers (just in case you didn't know) but also an introduction to the style of the album to already established fans of Giant Panda. The writing on the album is what makes it stand out more prominently for those already aquainted to GP. Humor (see 'CinemaX', 'Do The Robot In Cyberspace') and more serious notes (see 'AIM', 'Let It Go') are found all throughout the album, showing a different side of the Panda's fur. Like a caged animal, Giant Panda can rage with speaker pumpin' tracks such as 'Speakers Pop' and 'Speakers Funk'. The album was also recorded and mixed on analog tape, giving it extra warmth and harmonic punch. Overall Electric Laser is a step foward for Giant Panda, but still honors its true school mentality for their original fans.

Customer Comments
"Really appreciate your help - this is third time I've ordered from yourselves, having used a certain other site for 7 or 8 years. The service I have received so far has been brilliant and the selection of CDs is great - I wish I had made the switch years ago."
- Brian Lehane (United Kingdom - 9/6/2007)

"UGHH.com is the dopest website to get hip hop from ever. I have used other sites prior to finding UGHH.com and the service was never as good as you guys! Whenever I make orders I am never disappointed by the delivery time or the service I have received. Customer service has always been extremely helpful no matter what the request! Big ups and keep it moving."
- Rashaad Monteiro (Again!) (South Africa - 8/29/2007)

"Just wanted y'all to know I came all the way from Texas to Beantown, and my first stop was UGHH (Retail Store). I couldn't have imagined it being any better. Vintage KRS-One was blasting in the background, the staff was ultra-cool and super helpful. I picked up some dope CD's and an ass-kicking Warriors-themed t-shirt - old school, y'all. Just wanted to say thanks for a great experience. You have a customer for life!"
- Guido Carcerano (Texas, USA - 8/1/2007)
